Intellectual property rights of cell lines

After you obtained cell lines from JCRB Cell Bank, please never distribute them to any third party. Distribution of our cell lines to third parties is strictly prohibited in the Material Transfer Agreement concluded at the time of cell distribution.　

The cell lines distributed from JCRB Cell Bank are those that have been deposited by the entities which possess intellectual property rights of those cell lines. Only JCRB Cell Bank owns the right to distribute those cell lines. Please never purchase our cell lines even if they are sold by other entities. (Some cell lines, such as HeLa cells, are exceptionally distributed from multiple cell banks, but the number of such cell lines is extremely small.)　

Distribution of JCRB Cell Bank’s cells to third parties, or obtaining JCRB Cell Bank’s cells from entities other than JCRB Cell Bank, are both infringements of the intellectual property rights of entities which generated those cell lines.

Organizational change of the US/Canada official distributor

FUJIFILM Wako Chemicals U.S.A. Corporation, which has been responsible for the distribution of JCRB cells in the United States and Canada, is integrated into its sister company Fujifilm Irvine Scientific (FISI) on October 1, 2024.
Accordingly, FISI is the official distributor contact point for the JCRB cell bank from October 1, 2024.
Contact address including the phone number and the email address is not changed.

To customers in Singapore: New official distributor will be launched.

We are pleased to announce that Scientific Hub Services Co. Ltd. is the exclusive provider of JCRB’s cell lines for customers in Singapore since April 1st, 2024.

Since the change is accompanied by system modifications, JCRB will stop receiving web entries from Singapore since March 17, 2024. For ordering cell lines and inquiries from Singapore after March 17, 2024, we ask all customers to contact the new distributor. The details information including the price list will be opened in “How to order” (Flow of the distribution of cells) page after March 19, 2024 by accessing from Singapore.

Cell Line’s Unit Price is changed from March 17, 2024.

After much deliberation, we, JCRB Cell Bank, have decided to implement 4%~6.7% increase in our cell line’s unit prices, effective March 17, 2024. This increase is being made to meet corresponding increases in manufacturing and operating costs. This price change applies to customers who place orders directly with JCRB. Customers who purchase through Fujifilm Wako group and Cell Bank Australia will be announced separately.

1-14 Level of physical containment of facilities

JCRB Cell Bank is testing the cell lines for viruses pathogenic to humans as extensive as possible. However, there is the problem of detection limit and it is practically impossible to examine “all pathogens” as well as unidentified viruses.

Therefore the cell line should be handled as potentially biohazardous materials. Practically, the handling in accordance to biosafety level 2 is recommended. This does not mean that the cell line produces BSL-2 pathogens, but is needed to avoid potential risk.

JCRB Order Cancellation Policy (キャンセルポリシー)

All order cancellation requests must be made PRIOR to submit signed "Form A". Once a signed "Form A" has been submitted, that order is no longer eligible for cancellation or refund. If for any reason, the purchaser wishes to cancel a pending order, they must adhere to this cancellation policy.

To customers in Republic of Korea: Change of official distributor

Please be announced that our official distributor in Republic of Korea will be changed from April 1st, 2023.
Since the change is accompanied by system modifications, we will be suspending receiving all orders during the below periods.
Please note the following important information:

– We will stop accepting orders from March 18, 2023 to March 31, 2023.
– The orders which are approved by March 17, 2023 are shipped within March 2023.
The orders which are not approved by the above date are canceled. JCRB Cell Bank will announce on cancellation to applicants directly or through Sekisui Korea.
– During March 18 to 31, please contact JCRB Cell Bank directly for inquiries.
