[JCRB0202 B16 melanoma: melanin production is very poor]

The B16 melanoma registered under JCRB0202 has the ability to produce melanin, but at a very low level.

When observed under a light microscope in culture, most cells appear transparent with a significant absence of melanosomes. Melanosomes are observed in a small percentage of cells, but they only turn a faint gray color when pelleted.
